The care and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults involved in Church activities is the responsibility of the whole Church. Everyone who participates in the life of the Church has a role to play in promoting a Safer Church for all.

St Mary’s Church, Embsay welcomes children and young people and wants them to be safe when they are on church premises or attending a church run event. We also recognise that everyone has different levels of vulnerability and that each of us may be regarded as vulnerable at some time in our lives. To this end, the PCC has adopted the Diocese of Leeds, ‘Promoting a Safer Church’ 2017.
The Promoting a Safer Church document sets out the safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults’ policy of the Church of England. It has been informed by the Joint Safeguarding Statement between the Church of England and the Methodist Church. This document can be accessed here: https://www.churchofengland.org/sites/default/files/2017-12/PromotingSaferChurchWeb.pdf
