Families & Children

Children are welcome at all our services, especially at our All Age Worship service. This takes place on the first Sunday of the month at 9.30am, with activities for children, an interactive talk and music provided by a band with players of all ages.

On all Sundays parents are always welcome to take children into the bell tower where there is a selection of toys or to play on our carpeted area in the North aisle.

On Friday afternoons in term time (1.30pm – 3.15pm) pre-school children and their carers are welcome at Smiley Faces. The church becomes an exciting space for preschool children to explore and for their parents, grandparents and carers to relax in.  In summer we occasionally venture out and have an adventure in the vicarage garden.  Children’s birthdays are celebrated with cake!

We asked families to give us a word that came to mind when they thought of Smiley Faces and were delighted when they came up with these:

Welcoming • Fun • Friendly • Inclusive • Stimulating • Enjoyable • Active • Creative • Energetic • Community

Hot Chocolate Club

The Hot Chocolate Club, for Key Stage Two children (7-11), meets at Embsay Methodist Hall, Main Street, on Fridays in term time from 6.15 -7.30pm.

Hot Chocolate Club takes place every Friday evening during term time for primary school children in years 4, 5 & 6.

Each week we have a variety of activities including games, crafts and baking. When the nights are light enough and the weather good, we take the group outside to the woods or the park to play.
